developing tool tables

My intention was to create something that could be used easily and be friendly to both children and the elderly. So the idea was to have it plain and simple, so the participant could focus on their design rather than getting confused with using the technology.

This was my first attempt, i first i just wanted the bare minimum like colour brush options. However i found out i would need more to accommodate people's needs when designing.
To start with i re-designed the colour tools section. I felt the previous design was too small and would be difficult for someone to choose a specific colour especially if this is relying on touch screen technology
I then added the brush section, which also has been changed to look a lot neater and cleaner. I also added the option to chance the brush size swell as the style.
Thinking about it made me come up with more options such as a undo/redo button and also the option to rotate your design.
To finish off the tool sections I made two large buttons, one to represent a paint brush, the other for a eraser. This is so the drawer knows which option they have selected.
I finished it off by added faint grey borders to keep everything contained and neat. I also added grey border for guidance, to represent the area where the audience member should draw.

I'm pretty happy with the result, The design is simple, clean and hopefully clear and can be easily understood.

looking into tool sections

Whilst creating this animation it came apparent to me i needed to show how the audience will be able to change the colour of the brush. This lead me to thing of other things, such as the brush size, the type of brush and what if they want to erase certain area.

I knew then i needed to create some kind of tool section on the screen, where people can touch and select what they need. So first i wanted to look at existing examples.

Mock animation

Creating mock animation in after effects

i want to create a quick video demonstrating the idea of what i have. This way having a visual example will make it much easier to understand. Furthermore it will highlight areas where i can work upon in my final video.

More 3D Mapping Projections

Just looking at more examples, this one in particular shows me how a projection could work at the front of the town hall as its a similar looking building thats featured in the video.

3D Video Mapping Projection

Looking into animations being projected onto a building and came across this idea of 3D mapping animation with the building. This allows the building to appear to interact with whats being projected. The video gives a clear example of what i mean.

This really brings the building to life and enhances the animations being projected.

Nokia Ovi Maps Projections

This video is a great piece of inspiration and is also a good visual example of how i want my concept to look like when being projected. One thing i like is the colour theme, it has a limited colour palette which the use of blue and white. Maybe this is something i could keep in mind
