Final Piece with music
So this is my final piece, i'm pretty pleased with the result, i feel the second half with the building projection works best especially with the music, it fits very well with all the motions that appear.
Endcliffe Orchestra
What i thought would be a good idea was to use one of the band that will be playing on the night, it would be more fitting and give people of an idea of the type of music that might be heard.
I looked up one of the orchestras playing called Endcliffe, they seem quite unique in the fact they take modern pop song and spin a orchestra vibe to it.
I feel this piece of music would fit nicely with my video, its a song a lot of people know so it has universal appeal yet its different so it seems fresh and intriguing.
Furthermore the piece of music has its fair share up loud and quite moments, so it might work well with all of my loops and curve design. Theres lots of things going on in the song and people might pick up parts of the song other wouldn't so there interpretation will be different

final piece without music
So this is all the clips together and in order, i've added some small transitions like wash out and fade out when the video transfers to another location.
I now need to find a piece of music that would well with the video
copying lines and timing
with some of my clips i have multiple lines all moving, i had to make sure they all moved when they were suppose to and keep the timing in place. Furthermore some where made to appear to be short lines moving around. This was achieved with toggling with the start and end key frames
More video clips
These are just some more clips i'll be using, in these clips especially i tried to make the paint splats look right on the building, i used the overlay tool to keep the image see through and make it seem like its being projected onto the building.
Night to Day
My next challenge was to create the effect of day changing to night.
I decide i could do this using by gradually introducing a night time image into the background and at the same time darkening the rest of the image to give the impression the natural light is fading using the brightness and contrast tool

Creating moving sky
I came across the video which showed how create a moving sky on a still photograph, i thought this would be perfect little effect to bring these photos to life and give them some motion.
And this is my attempt, i think it improve the sequence as t look like a passage of time is occurring
animating the video
Using the pen tool and key frames to get the time right
the orange line is create by applying a stroke to the line, i then lowered the opacity so the part of the building could be seen beneath
So i took the images and then added coloured line which moves around the side of the building. Although its kind of effective, it still look a bit static, i need to imply some movement .
Problem using videos in after effects
I thought it would be beneficial to use video for this part of the animation, however it turns out to be a burden, because i hand held the camera the video is not in a fixed position. This proved to be difficult when i tried to animate some lines on the building, because the video moves the lines go out of sync with where they are meant to be, ruining the illusion.
Here are some examples
So i think i am going to return with using photos, maybe there is a way of bringing them to life
City Hall Pics
However i though because this is going to be a video that pictures wouldn't be adequate so i returned to city hall to take some video shots
first half of animation
This is the first part of my animation complete, it demonstrate how the interactive board would work in theory.
Next its onto animated the City Hall
animated files
these are some of video that have been projected onto the wall
The video above is meant to demonstrate to the person watching that their design is saved into a file to be used later when projected onto City Hall
How i created the buttons
I wanted to show more interaction with the board with other things than just the can, so i came up ith idea of having touch screen section, so people can touch select different items. I created simple 2 framed animations to give the appearance that something has been selected.
animated files being projected
These are the video that i will be projecting on to the wall. The idea being that a person mimic the shape of the line and make it look like they are creating it. It took some trial and error but i eventually got the shots i want.
To save time i'll upload a couple and screenshot of a selection of the rest
setting up projector
So i borrowed a projector from uni and then set it up in my bedroom, linking it up with Mac meant i could project whatever i had on my screen onto the wall.
Also from a little tester i noticed whoever i was videoing would have to stand to the side of the projected screen, otherwise their shadow would cover it, i did some test shots seen above, which show from the right angle i can still get the shots i want.

Storyboard for animation
So after i made my quick mock animation i thought before i do the real thing a good idea would be to draw up a storyboard so i can plan all the shots in advance and know how i want it to look like.
These are just simple sketches, but they get across the idea of the camera angle and what i want to shown in each shot.
the camera angle changes so it can be seen clearly when the person starts using the light graffiti can.
This shot is to demonstrate that the person can select different colours throughout making their design.
This represents the idea that i want lots of quick close up shots of different designs being created.

the animation will start with a person looking at the interactive board ready to start...
then two quick shot which show the participant grabbing the headphones and putting them on. I see the animation as a sort of 'how to' video as well as trying to promote it.
It then shows the person selecting a brush a colour ready to start spraying.
a close up shot shows a zigzag motion as the person gets creative.
a wide angle shot now, which shows a laptop near by which is capturing the motion and images the person is drawing in real time.
This represents the idea that i want lots of quick close up shots of different designs being created.
Then the camera goes wide again and you get the image of the final design.
Finally it shows the design being saved to the computer where it will be compiled and projected onto the city hall later on in the day.
Throughout my animation i'm wanting a piece of music to be playing in the background. Im going to look into the alight twilight event again and see if it gives any information as to what songs are going to be played so i can choose a relevant song that people can design to.
